Who we are
The West End Community Association (WECA) is a not-for-profit, non aligned, incorporated association of residents and friends of Kurilpa (West End, Hill End, Highgate Hill and South Brisbane).

Formed in 2004, WECA celebrates and promotes our values, events and people that make Kurilpa a vibrant and diverse community.

The Association is open to and welcomes residents - owners and renters alike, community organisations and businesspeople to join with us in our initiatives.

What WECA does

• Celebrates the people and community of Kurilpa 
• Provides a natural starting point for individuals seeking support for local initiatives.
• Consults with the local community through briefings, public meetings and forums, workshops, surveys, and interviews on local development and local initiatives
• Raises awareness of issues through local briefings, events, community stunts and the media.
• Advocates for community interests
• Engages with governments and private developers to create better planning and better development outcomes that advance community interests

Our Campaigns
The association currently has campaign groups focusing on areas of local concern including:

• Connecting and Celebrating the great community of Kurilpa
• Contributing to local development
• Assisting Members with Development Applications
• Promoting Improved Mobility and Traffic - Commuter Solutions
• Promoting Ideas for Better Development across Kurilpa
• Davies Park Protection Group

How You Can Participate

• Join - become a financial member and join-in on any number of exciting community led-initiatives
• Be Aware - attend a briefing session, read our emails, look at the website, ask WECA a question
• Participate - join one of WECA's groups...there's currently two community gardens, a parks and greening initiative, an emerging urban development think tank, a green enterprise hub, a native regeneration project, major events to celebrate life in Kurilpa being planned for 2010, and from time to time a 'stunts team' to bring awareness to a pressing issue.
